Proceeds will support Woking & Sam Beare Hospice, helping provide compassionate care to families in our community, plus local charities.

A small confession

We had previously said that, officially, menu choices were supposed to be in by 20th May.

Unofficially… we may have persuaded the hotel to give us a little more breathing room.

Which is fortunate, because a surprising number of people have recently said some variation of:
“Oh no — have we missed it?”

So: if you were still hovering, still coordinating friends, still meaning to book “this week”, you probably haven’t missed your chance. We’re now approaching capacity, so if you’ve been meaning to book, don’t leave it too much longer. and please do download the PDF of the menu below and let Teresa know your choices sooner rather than later.

Turkish Delights

This Chinese New Year… we thought, why not go Turkish.

2026 — The Year of The Horse

The 16th of February falls on the eve of Chinese New Year — the Year of the Horse.

Turkey, of course, is practically overflowing with horse heritage: legendary riders, early domestication, and Cappadocia — the Land of Beautiful Horses.

What better way to celebrate the Year of the Horse, we thought. That… and The Beijing — our usual haunt — is closed for the holiday.

As always, the evening supports a worthwhile cause — this year, Cut Out Cancer, a partnership between Rotary clubs across the South and the Royal Surrey Hospital. Funds raised will go towards the purchase of high-tech specialised medical equipment for the treatment and care of cancer patients.

To help things along, we’ll be serving a delicious spread of Turkish favourites — generous sharing meze platters, mixed house grills, and of course, homemade baklava.

Join us for good food, good company, and a good cause.

An evening at The Drumming Snipe

7pm -11pm

What's that sound? A horse? A goat? A walrus maybe?

In days gone by, the distinctive ‘drumming’ of a snipe’s tail feathers at twilight caused all sorts of confusion.

The Alaskan Nunamiut thought they were hearing a walrus.

In parts of Sweden, it was mistaken for the whinny of a horse.

And in Northern Germany, some were convinced it was Thor’s goats pulling his chariot across the heavens.

Goats!

We’d like to think we’re not so mutton-headed here in Woking.

What we’ve heard is that The Drumming Snipe is one of the best places to gather for a great evening out.

If you’ve dined there before, you’ll know the atmosphere is warm and inviting, the food consistently good, and the service always a delight, making it a favourite for special occasions.

On this special occasion you’ll be supporting local cancer-related charities. And yes, there will be a raffle!

The evening will be accompanied by some gentle background music, but definitely no ‘drumming’.
