Lunchtime Speaker – Internet Training – Mobile phones required

November 10, 2025 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

David and Teresa. Bring your mobiles with you.Meeting Notes
This week Teresa Stedman and David Hughes were talking about the Internet resources that our
members can use. We have our own website called Woking Rotary Club (rotarywoking.co.uk) which has
information about the Club. This includes a very useful calendar of events, which you can import into your
own electronic calendar. There is also a Facebook page which anyone can look at and subscribe to. If you get
your friends to follow the page, this is helpful to the Club. The Facebook page has photos and posts about
Club events. Members can register with with Rotary’s MyRotary website on which you can get access to
information on the Club and the District. This login should also give you access to Rotary View which has
further information including the on-line version of the Club handbook. There is a Rotary Club Locator app on
Google Play and Apple’s App store which enables you to find local rotary clubs wherever you are in the
world. There will be a further presentation on Workspace at a later meeting. Carol congratulated Teresa and
David on their very interesting presentation.
At the lunch, the President inducted a new member Susan Beesley. We also had a guest from The Rotary
Club of Arbroath, Mrs Alison Stedman, who is Teresa Stedman’s mother-in-law. The Club has 35 members
and meets weekly. Alison told us about the Club’s activities, which includes its work with HIV infected
orphans in Nyumbani, Kenya. She is a very active member of her Club. In 2018 she received the prestigious
Rotary International Champions of Change award, for which was congratulated by the Scottish
Parliament. Alison's charitable efforts in Kenya saw her team supply five houses, a block of bedsits, two
classrooms, irrigation, solar pumping, wells, cooking shelters and a literacy project in Nyumbani village.
