Woking Football Club
9 year old Harry was a runner-up in the Colin Kramer award. As a football fan he was invited to Simons talk on Woking Football Club. Simon presented Harry with a WFC scalf plus a T shirt signed by the players. Despite his physical needs, affecting his movement. H is a regular visitor to Woking Football Club. He had earlier last year a long term absence from school, has shown resilience and pushed through and enjoys all aspects of school life. He left the meeting with a huge smile on his face.
This week, we welcomed Simon Jones from Woking Football Club (WFC), which is now a corporate member. WFC, nearly 140 years old, has been based at Kingfield Stadium for over a century and currently competes in the Vanarama National League.
Recently, the club underwent an ownership change, with Todd Johnson becoming the principal shareholder. Johnson is also part of the ownership group of Minnesota United, a Major League Soccer team in the USA. Simon, as WFC’s Business Development Director, oversees the club’s commercial, community, and charitable initiatives.
WFC collaborates with local businesses like Seymours, Laithwaite Financial Services, Boz, and MKJ. Its charity of the year is Woking & Sam Beare Hospice, and it also supports other local charities, including the Rotary Club of Woking, helping them raise funds through partnerships. The club is deeply engaged in the community, training young footballers of all genders. Looking ahead, its key challenges are improving financial results, enhancing on-field performance, and planning a stadium renovation.
