Lunchtime Speaker -Note Change of Venue
There was no speaker this week but we had a delicious lunch at West Hall Care Home. Some of us were
also able to visit our friend, fellow Rotarian Ben Flude, who is staying there.
On Sunday 17th May the Club held a PSA testing session at Woking & Sam Beare Hospice. 126 men
attended for blood tests. Carol and some of the other Rotarians who were there visited the kitchen at the
Hospice to see the new equipment for the treatment of dysphagia. This was jointly financed by the Rotary
Club of Woking and Rotary Club of Woking District, with the help of Foundation and District grants.
The Club will be sponsoring a Woking High School student to go on the RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership
Awards) youth leadership scheme which will take place this August. The cost of £460 will be financed
from the fund set up in memory of Eric Whittaker.
Future events this year include a dinner to commemorate Rotary Club of Woking District’s 50th anniversary
which will be held on Saturday 17th October at Chobham Golf Club. The Rotary South District
Conference will be held on Saturday 10th October from 9.30am to 5pm and will be followed by a
dinner from 5.45pm to 9pm. Carol will be attending the conference and would like to make up a table at
the dinner.
A reminder about the President’s Dinner Dance at Gorse Hill. We would like more guests if possible. Please
let Teresa know your menu choices. Payment for the dinner can be made by BACs and should be done in
advance. Please see Teresa’s email.
